HOT SPOT OF THE WEEK! The Chef’s Table

This week’s KleinLiving Hot Spot is “The Chef’s Table”. It’s a restaurant with a menu that includes food from around the world; located on Vintage Park.

A few months ago, I started hearing that the previous chef at PeliPeli was opening a new restaurant where Pelipeli used to be on Vintage Park. So, I was curious to see what the Chef would create next.

We visited last weekend for our Anniversary. The decoration is very elegant, casual and, with simple lines. The menu was a little confusing for me because I couldn’t determine the style. Keep in mind that I didn’t research the restaurant before we went, so I didn’t have any specific expectations. What I could gather is that it is mainly Italian and South African-inspired cuisine. The server was attentive and made nice wine pairing suggestions, and explain the dishes in detail. We got a couple of glasses of complimentary champagne since it was our anniversary, a very nice touch.

Last week we ordered “Charred Octopus” and “Carrot Ginger Soup”. I love a good octopus, and the chef’ didn’t disappoint, The octopus was perfectly cooked and seasoned, the roasted potatoes were tasty and the chimichurri was a great addition to the dish. The Carrot Ginger soup was also really good.

Later, we ordered “Farmer’s Veggie Patch”, “The Diane Sisters” with Carrot Bredie and Sautee Baby Spinach, and, for dessert “Passion Fruit Creme Burle”.

The flavor in the farmer’s veggie patch was really good, it was tasty, crispy, and a good combination of veggies, definitely a lighter dish. The Dianne sisters were very rich; the fillet was tender, the deep-fried bun was an interesting touch; both veggie sides were well cooked and fresh. The surprise of the night was the Passion Fruit Creme Burlee, with a nice caramelized crust to a perfectly creamy and tangy custard. It was light and very delicious.
