HOT SPOT OF THE WEEK! Callie’s Kitchen

This week’s KleinLiving Hot Spot is Callie’s Kitchen. It’s an organic, plant-based restaurant; located in Old Town Tomball.

We were driving through Old Town Tomball looking for a place to have lunch. And, we came across this charming, restored house with Callie’s Kitchen sign. We were intrigued and decided to give it a try. And, what a wonderful surprise! I haven’t had this quality and deliciousness of plant-based food in a very long time.

I love this place so much because the food is fantastic, well seasoned, and prepared with care. All the ingredients are organic and plant-based. The place is super cute, clean, and very welcoming. And, our server was very attentive. She explained the menu and recommended dishes for us to try.

We ordered “Jackfruit & Quinoa Street Tacos”, “Mediterranean Tostadas”, “Blueberry ice tea” and “Mango lemonade”. And, we had “Grande Eggplant Sausage Tacos” to go, for our son.

The tacos looked a bit daunting at first. They had what seemed as tens of ingredients, all vegetables. The feeling vanished after the first bite. All flavors came together wonderfully with the Jackfruit and quinoa as the cornerstone. My hubby said he honestly didn’t miss the meat.My favorite were the Tostadas, with 2 crispy tostadas, topped with humus, black beans and lots of veggies. they were messy to eat and delicious, so worth the mess. And, a side of potato salad. The plate was a really good size portion, very fulfilling and satisfying.

My son got the eggplant sausage tacos, he said the sausage was spectacularly seasoned and well done. He found the eggplant to be a very creative touch to the whole taco. Overall, it is a meal he will go back for. That is a compliment, coming from a teenager, that is not into vegan food.

Callie’s Kitchen is fantastic, with a healthy and delicious menu, that change every couple weeks or so. They also have vegan and gluten free deserts and plant-based pre-made meals to go.
