HOT SPOT OF THE WEEK – The Blind Goat

This week’s KleinLiving Hot Spot is The Blind Goat. It’s a modern Vietnamese gastropub by Christine Ha; located on Travis St, downtown Houston.

Last month, we had tickets for a show at the Hobby center that had a last-minute cancellation. Since we were already in downtown Houston, we decided to get some food. My son has been watching old master chef seasons, and he knows that MasterChef winner Christine Ha has a restaurant close to where we were. That’s how we ended up looking for The Blind Goat.

The Blind Goat is located inside the Bravery Chef Hall. The hall has a very interesting concept. It gathers several restaurant/bar styles in the same building. It has an open space so you can see the kitchen and sit on stools around the kitchen area and see the chef preparing your food. It was very unique for us and very engaging to be able to talk to the chef and cooks as they prepare the food. It has a small menu showcasing fresh spins on Vietnamese fare.

I love this place so much because it is very casual and unique. Also, The service was great, the cook recommended some dishes and respond to all our questions. The food was prepared at the moment. The quality is excellent and the service great.

We ordered “Fried Chicken Bao” for an appetizer. And, “Grilled Lemongrass Chicken Vermicelli” and “Beef Bulgogi Bibimbap” as main dishes.

The Baos were delicious. The combination of flavors with the crispiness of the chicken makes you crave to eat more and more. They are a must-buy for anyone planning on eating at The Blind Goat. The Vermicelli was good, but nothing particularly stands out for me in that dish. The Beef Bulgogi was rich in flavor, the beef was tender, the kimchi was good, and the red pepper sauce added a nice spiciness to the dish. Their apple pie dessert is one of the main attractions of the menu, it takes about 40 minutes to make, so it is warm and juicy. It is truly in a class of its own. It was outstanding.

Please share this blog so more people can support this local business.
