HOT SPOT OF THE WEEK: BCN Taste & Tradition

This week KleinLiving Hot Spot of the Week is “BCN Taste & Tardition”. It’s a contemporary Spanish fine dining; located on 4210 Roseland St. Houston, TX 77006.

My husband took me to BCN to celebrate our anniversary a few years ago and I love it. The food is awesome, it has some of my favorite Spanish dishes. They have great wine, several of Ribera del Duero our favorite wine. It one of our favorite places for celebrations.

We ordered some tapas and red wine; “Spanish octopus served with potato purée, olive oil and smoked paprika”, “Gambas with roasted garlic”and “White kidney bean stew, pork feet, Spanish txistorra sausage and cabbage”

The main dishes were: “Spanish noodles –  fideos a la cazuela – with Ibérico pig and sautéed bell peppers” and “Grilled duck breast served with quince, idiazábal cheese sauce, pine nuts and balsámic vinegar reduction” And, as dessert we got “Tarta de Santiago” almond cake, homemade lemon marmalade”.

The food was fantastic. The Spanish noodles” was thin noodles with Spanish suckling pig chunks on a really tasty sauce, surely using the juices from cooking the suckling pig. Although the meat chunks were very tasty, the flavor and texture of the noodles and sauce were exceptional, leaving us craving for more. My favorites were the octopus, fresh and perfectly cooked; The duck was really good and I love the added sweetness of the quince in combination with the duck. And, the dessert is a traditional almond cake, delicious, sweet, and spongy, it reminded me of a trip a few years back to Santiago de Compostela.
